Patna, March 30: Devotees at Sheetla Mata Temple under Bypass police station today caught a middle-aged woman red-handed while she was trying to snatch a chain.

The woman, identified as Sanjita Devi, a resident of Hajipur, was found to be involved in many snatching incidents. Sanjita was nabbed when she targeted the chain of one Suresh Prasad. “It was her second attempt on a man today,” police said. Prasad, a resident of Nala Road, said he felt someone was pulling his gold chain and immediately grabbed a hand, which turned out to be Sanjita’s. She was handed over to the cops.

“Women cops searched Sanjita on the spot and recovered another gold chain from her possession. The chain belonged to one Sunil Kumar, a resident of Daldali Road of Patna. Sunil too had come to the temple today. The temple mostly remains crowded and the woman took advantage of the rush. She used to target people in the crowd and flee the spot after pulling a chain. Today, she was caught in her second attempt,” an officer at Bypass police station said.

The police said the woman was being interrogated to ascertain her involvement in other such incidents.
