Voter drive
• Patna: The Election Commission of India will launch a special drive christened "no voters to be left behind" from July 1 to enrol young voters (18 to 19 years) who have not been able to get a place in the voters' list till now.
State chief electoral officer Ajay V. Nayak on Thursday said block-level officers will visit each household of
their areas during the drive period to collect enrolment forms from eligible voters.Special camps will be organised at polling booths on
July 8 and 22 where eligible persons can submit their applications for enrolment to the voters' list.
BJP fest
• Patna: The Bihar unit of BJP would launch a Modi (Making of developed India) Fest on June 2 and special events will be organised at Aurangabad, Muzaffarpur, Chhapra, Madhepura and Begusarai. Party state unit president Nityanand Rai will inaugurate the fest in Chhapra.
Goons loot dealer
• Patna: A group of criminals looted Rs 10 lakh from Rohit Agrawal, a fire cracker dealer, from Jay Nagar in Madhubani on Thursday.
Police said the incident took place when Agrawal was going to Nepal to exchange currency. The trader later lodged an FIR against Nandlal Yadav, a resident of Pipratoli in Madhubani district.
Four killed
• Bettiah: Four persons were killed and three others suffered injuries when an SUV dashed against a tree near Bagaha in West Champaran district on Thursday. The injured have been admitted to Bagaha referral hospital for treatment. The SUV was on way to Valmikinagar from Bagaha when the accident occurred.

• Begusarai: CPM leader Ram Sagar Paswan was killed by criminals at Kadrabad village under the jurisdiction of Bachhwara police station in Begusarai district on Thursday. The incident has sparked tension in the area.

• Hajipur: A grocery shop owner Dhananjay Singh was killed by armed criminals at Parmanandpur under the jurisdiction of Lalganj police tation in Vaishali district on Thursday. The reason behind the incident is et to be ascertained.
Graft cuffs
• Patna: Sleuths of the vigilance investigation bureau arrested a revenue department employee Bhikhari Prasad from Madhepura on Thursday on the charge of accepting Rs 10,000 as bribe from Anil Yadav, a resident of Gadhiya in Madhepura district, in lieu of sending a survey report of his land.
Tech course
• Patna: The state science and technology department has decided to start MTech course at Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology (MIT), Muzaffarpur. This will be the first time a state engineering college will start the course.
In its initial years, the MTech course will be on machine design and thermal engineering. The total student intake in the MTech course will be 18. The course will start from August this year.
Liquor arrest
• Patna: The Patna police, as part of Operation Sura, on Thursday arrested 27 persons in connection with liquor supply and bootlegging. The Patna police till date have arrested 1,223 persons in this connection. On Thursday, the police seized 64 litres of country-made liquor and 1,319 bottles of IMFL.
Nitish meets Uma Bharti
• Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday met Union water resources minister Uma Bharti in Patna and told her that the Ganga's cleanliness was impossible without ensuring its continuous flow. He also requested her to ensure that the team of engineers who would be sent to study the siltation of the Ganga come with an open mind and do not insist on textbook knowledge only.
