Girls outshone the boys during the 21st convocation of Magadh University on Thursday, which was held after a gap of five years.

Twenty-four of the thirty-seven gold medallists were girls. The university awarded masters degrees to 404 students, while 76 scholars received their PhD degrees.

The last convocation was held on December 20, 2010.

Of the 37 toppers, 33 pupils turned up to receive their medals from Bihar governor-cum-chancellor of universities Ram Nath Kovind.

The chancellor of Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda, Rajmata Shubhangini Raje Gaekwad also attended the event.

Gold medallists Prem Kumar (sanskrit), Rahul Kumar Jha (history) and Soni Kumari (commerce) said the convocation should be held at regular intervals.
