Varsity forms up for grabs

Most colleges under Patna University have started the admission process for the next academic session.

This year, colleges have begun selling forms even before boards like CBSE, ICSE and the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) have announced their Class XII results. Some colleges began selling forms last week. Patna College began selling forms on Monday for admission into 600 seats in the BA course.

The last date for submission of forms is June 5, while the entrance test would be held on June 7 (See chart).

At Patna Science College, sale of forms began on May 6, while the last date for submission of forms is June 4.

Entrance exams for its 600 seats would be conducted on June 6. Patna Science College principal U.K. Sinha said: “Last year, around 5,000 students sat for the entrance test. This year, the college administration hopes more students appear for the test.” From Tuesday, the college will also accept online registration for admission. Mathematics is the most popular course there, followed by physics and chemistry.

Sale of application forms at Magadh Mahila College for admission into BA, BSc and BCom courses commenced on May 3. The last date for submission of forms is May 31. College principal Dolly Sinha said: “The entrance test for arts candidates would be held on June 5 and for science and commerce on June 7 and June 11 respectively.”

Sale of forms at the Patna Women’s College began on May 6. The last date for submission of forms for BA and BSc courses is June 4 and for BCom June 10. The college would conduct entrance tests for BA and BSc courses in two shifts on June 19. It is yet to announce date for BCom entrance.

Students are worried as the boards are yet to announce Class XII results. Swati Priya, a DAV student visiting Patna Women’s College to enquire about admissions, said: “I am very tense as the CBSE has not declared results yet.”

BN College began selling forms from May 9 and forms will be available till May 30, college principal P.K. Poddar said. Entrance test for science and arts courses would be held on June 9. At Vanijya Mahavidyalaya, forms for BCom Honours courses are already available. The last date for submitting filled-up forms is June 5 while an entrance test would be held on June 10.

Law exam cancelled

Patna University has cancelled the law examination conducted at Patna College and Patna Science College on May 9 following reports of mass copying. BN College students had boycotted the exam.
