Bhagalpur: Sanjay Bhatt and Pranav Sha alias Pranav Kumar Das, the two co-accused in the Nathnagar communal flare-up case, surrendered at the court of additional chief judicial magistrate-I (ACJM-I), Anjani Kumar Srivastava, on Wednesday.
On Tuesday night, the police had arrested Mohammad Jasmin, the one among the 12 named accused in the second FIR related to the March 17 case. BJP's town president, Abhay Kumar Ghosh alias Sonu, along with four party workers and accused in the case, on Wednesday applied for regular bail at the court of ACJM-I.
Minister of state for health and family welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey's son Arjit Shashwat's lawyer, who was scheduled to file for the regular bail of his client at the court of district and session judge on Wednesday, could not file it because of non-availability of nakal (true copy) of the judgment from the court of the ACJM-I.
Mishra said the bail petition would be filed for Arjit in the court of the district and session judge but did not mention the date of hearing. But party sources said earlier it was decided to fix the argument for the regular bail of Arjit the day after filing the bail petition but the defence wants some time for argument.
"Arjit, along with seven persons are in jail but a certain Anup Lal Sha of Nathnagar and also a co-accused in the case has not yet surrendered. The minister (read Choubey) asked us not to move the court for the regular bail for Arjit and others till all the named accused surrender. So only after Sha surrenders, we would push for the regular bail," told a BJP source.#
Bhagalpur senior superintendent of police Manoj Kumar said the police have set a manhunt to nab the accused.
