Motihari, May 25: The bodies of two persons, killed for different reasons, on Tuesday night were recovered in different areas of the city today.

In the first incident, the body of 22-year-old Wasi Akhtar, a resident of Adapur, was found abandoned near an orchard in John Pool locality under Banjariya police station of the town this morning.

Confirming the murder, the deputy superintendent of police (headquarters), Mohammed Moqueem, said an FIR was lodged in the case by Akhtar’s employer Munna Patel.

Akhtar had been working at a cycle workshop owned by Patel for the past several months.

The police officer added that Akhtar’s illicit relations with a family member of Muharram Dhobi, a washerman, was the purported reason behind the murder. The deceased was a regular visitor to the house for quite some time.

The police also found bloodstains and a dagger that was used to kill and chop up the victim into several pieces in Muharram’s house in Singhiya Sagar locality near John Pool Chowk.

The DSP, however, said the family members were absconding when the police raided the house.

In the other incident too, the body of a woman was recovered from the railway tracks under Sugauli police station area.

Briefing on the incident, the DSP said the body, which was found lying on the railway tracks early Wednesday morning, was identified as that of Shobha Devi, 25. She was a resident of a village in the adjoining Majhaulia police station area.

The resident of a village under Harsiddhi police station area, Shobha, was married to one Jhulan Sah a few years ago.

The DSP apprehended demands of dowry behind the incident.

“The police have started investigations in both the cases,” the DSP said.
