Salman Khan's Id luck has clearly run out. After a string of blockbusters, Bhaijaan's Tubelight has failed to create the usual euphoria one would associate with a Kabir Khan-Salman venture.

In the past three days, the movie has just managed to collect nearly Rs 75 lakh compared to his previous release - Sultan - which had collected nearly Rs 90 lakh in as many days.

Despite more shows for Tubelight than Sultan, slotted for 42 shows in Patna, the footfall was not as per expectations. The shocking part is that the tickets of Tubelight were easily available on Id - a day Salman films run to packed theatres, a trend that saw films like Kick, Ek Tha Tiger, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan go on to create Bollywood box office history.

On the day of its release, Sultan had grossed around Rs 28,27,52,3. In comparison, Tubelight did a business of around Rs 25,986,75 on the first day. The previous Id, most shows were houseful and the advance bookings too had filled up fast. No such luck this year for the superstar.

Suman Kumar Sinha, the chairman-cum-managing director of Regent Theatre Pvt Ltd, who has slotted six shows of Tubelight, said: "We were expecting an unprecedented footfall on Id but I am shocked that it was not as per expectations. Though we received 80 per cent occupancy, for a Salman Khan film, it is never less than houseful. However, I am hopeful that in the days to come, the film will pick up."

A similar response was visible at Mona and Elphinstone, two prominent singleplex theatres located in the heart of the city near Gandhi Maidan.

The manager of Mona, Sharad Gupta, said: "The film is okay but not what we expected on the occasion of Id. We are facing this crisis after a long time. It could be that people prefer to be with their families on Id and that's the reason the footfall is not a per expectations. But I am sure that revenues will increase by Tuesday or Wednesday."

However, those who watched the movie, praised Salman for making their days after a month of fast.

Mohammad Akram, who watched Tubelight at Regent, said: "The script of the movie does not matter, what matters for us is Salman. After a month-long fast during Ramazan, bhaijaan has delivered an excellent performance."

It remains to be seen if such die-hard Salman Khan fans manage to salvage the film in the days to come.
