Have you ever thought of living comfortably on a tree amid wild surroundings? Well, students can now have a date with nature as Tarumitra has come up with a well-crafted tree house at its campus for school and college students.
Christened Fairy tree house, only school and college students will be able to access it. Made of bamboo, it nestles on a kamroop tree 20ft high. It meets its energy requirements through solar panels and boasts of a washroom apart from a bed.
City-based engineer Shashidarshan, Akshay Dutta, Vipin Sawra and Anurag Sabhapandit have made the tree house in 24 days. St Dominic Savio's High School principal Glenda Gaulstan inaugurated it on Wednesday in the presence of Tarumitra founder Father Robert Athickal.
Over 100 students from various schools, including Notre Dame Academy, Adarsh Bal Vidyalaya and SR Veedyapeeth, took part in the event. Athickal said Tarumitra will provide one-day, two-night stay for free to school and college students, who would be found engaged in eco-friendly activities.
SR Vidyapeeth Class VIII student Shreya Jha said: "I would wonder how birds live on trees. It's great that Tarumitra now has a tree house to give us the same kind of experience. I felt awesome inside the tree house."
