Commuters between Purnea and Banmankhi have to travel by road instead of train, as Indian Railways has suspended services from Wednesday along the metre gauge stretch to convert it into a broad gauge one.
Samastipur divisional railway manager Arun Malik said: “Three passenger trains operate along the route. But the service of the trains will remain suspended till the work is complete.” He, however, did not mention any deadline for the revamp.
Regular passengers said they were worried about the high bus fare on the route.
