Patna: A speeding train knocked down three youths when they were crossing the railway tracks in Begusarai, around 110km east of Patna, on Thursday.
The police said the incident occurred around 11.30am when the victims were crossing the railway tracks near eastern railway crossing at Lakhminia railway station and were listening to loud music on their mobile phones. The youths were so engrossed in listening to music they couldn't see the Kamakhya Express coming.
The three youths had already come under the wheels and were killed before the driver could apply brakes. Two of the deceased were identified as Raj Kumar and Mohammad Ahmed, residents of Mansoorchak village under the jurisdiction of Balia police station in Begusarai.
The third victim was identified as Mohammad Kare, a resident of Matihani police station area in Begusarai.
As the news spread, a large number of residents rushed to the spot. The bodies were sent to the Begusarai sadar hospital for post-mortem.
