Patna, Aug. 31: Hajipur district and sessions judge Dinesh Kumar Sharma today expressed displeasure over “incomplete and defective investigation” by Government Railway Police in the seizure of 15kg marijuana from the Rajdhani Express and arrest of two men in the connection.
Dissatisfied with the manner the investigation was conducted and the chargesheet submitted against the two accused, Randhir Kumar Singh and Amarjeet Kumar Singh, both residents of Khushrupur in Patna district, the judge ordered to issue a letter to Bihar director-general of police, asking him to issue a directive to the concerned investigating officer to conduct in-depth probe in the case.
“Seizure of narcotics from an important train like the Rajdhani is a serious matter. The accused had revealed the name of a railway employee, who helped him carry the contraband into the generator cabin. What is surprising is that the investigating officer neither bothered to conduct identification parade to ascertain the identity of the suspected railway employee nor tried to establish the links of the racketeers,” the court observed.
A senior IPS officer at the state police headquarters, however, refused to comment on the matter.
