Motihari: Barely a few days after the murder of an RTI activist, criminals on Monday killed a Patna-based businessman, Arvind Choudhary, and injured his driver at a place near Semara under the jurisdiction of Sagauli police station area of East Champaran.
Sagauli police station SHO Sunil Kumar said Arvind Choudhary was shot dead when he was way to Nepal from Patna. "The incident occurred at Chapra-Bahasa near Semara," he said, adding that the trader's body was recovered from Trivemi near Ramgharwa, around 15km away from the place of the crime.
Veeru Prasad, the car driver, told the police that three men, who had boarded the car in the middle of their journey, fired following an altercation. "While the killers sped away with the businessman, they dumped the driver elsewhere," said the SHO.
A police party from Sagauli rushed towards Raxaul acting on tip-off from a passers-by. "We recovered the body from the car from Triveni (under Ramgarhwa police station area)." Police seized the car and sent the body for post-mortem.
At the time of filing of this report, the driver was undergoing treatment at a private nursing home in Motihari.
This is the second such incident in seven days.
