Industries minister Renu Kumari found herself on a sticky wicket on Monday when entrepreneurs hurled a volley of posers at her at a function in the state capital. The minister, however, did not duck the queries, and assured the businessmen of addressing their problems.

Kumari was the chief guest on the inaugural day of the two-day national-level vendor development programme-cum-exhibition at Bihar Industries Association (BIA). The programme has been organised jointly by BIA and the Patna branch of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Institute.

In course of her speech, Kumari spoke at length on the achievements of chief minister Nitish Kumar. The demand for special status also found mention in her speech.

As soon as the audience were allowed to interact with her, they started asking her questions on fuel surcharge, VAT refund and other related issues.

Krishnandan Varshne, one of the interlocutors, said: “Industrialists have faced a number of problems associated with the basic needs. For instance, the VAT refund is a lengthy process. How can industries in the state flourish with such problems?”

To pacify the industrialists, the minister said: “Now, I am busy with Assembly proceedings. After April 1, I will address all the problems.”
