Maiden 200

February 24, 2010, is one day I would never forget. Sachin thrashed South African bowlers all around Roop Singh Stadium in Gwalior that day. He scored an unbeaten double hundred in a One Day International! That was Sachin’s 93rd international ton and by far the most special.

A 200 off just 147 deliveries with 25 fours and three sixes, against a quality bowling attack! Hats off!

That 200 at Gwalior! Awesome. South African players were sent on leather hunt. He just mastered them. The Proteas tried every trick to see the back of the Master. But nothing worked. Sachin stroked his way to a double hundred.

Crafty 91

I was never too keen on cricket until the great man helped us win the triangular series in Australia in 2008. I had been telling everyone that we could never win the Commonwealth Bank series 2007-08. Sachin led from the front with a superb 91 to set the Australians a stiff target of 259. It was not one of those innings where he blasted the opposition out of the ground. It was a class act. I will remember that knock throughout my life because this is what changed my attitude towards cricket. I became a cricket fan, thanks to Sachin’s great knock at Brisbane.

Ton bet

I have been a cricket lover since my childhood. I never miss any match. Sachin is my favourite cricketer. There have been so many memorable innings by the legend, but the one that stands out in my memory is his 138 in the 2009 Compaq Cup final between India and Sri Lanka. His superb innings helped India score 319 at R Premadasa. India won. This century helped me win a bet against my brother. I had challenged him that Sachin would score a century and the joy his 100th run gave me was unparalleled. Take a bow, Master!

Anchor role

Two things usually get better with age — wine and friends. But the world has found a third entity: Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. My personal favourite innings is the one in which he scored 117 off 120 balls in the first final of Commonwealth Bank Series 2007-08 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Chasing a stiff target of 240 set by Australia, victory seemed highly improbable, especially with the likes of Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson. The great man anchored the innings and India chased down the target with ease.
