Gaya, Oct. 16: The state government, in collaboration with the Centre, will organise a daylong training programme on Japanese encephalitis for doctors at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH) on October 22.

Since the first patient suffering from suspected Japanese encephalitis was admitted to ANMMCH on August 23, as many as 66 children have died in the hospital so far. At present, 49 children are recovering in the hospital.

A three-member team from Delhi that visited ANMMCH on Saturday decided that doctors posted at the primary health centres will be trained on the causes and preventive measures for the disease. Led by S.I. Ameer, the senior regional director of Union health department, Bihar and Jharkhand, the team was sent by the Centre to assess the technical and medical assistance required at ANMMCH for treatment.
