Patna, Nov. 17: Professors and employees of the MCA department of Patna University are burning midnight oil as the department is set to start classes from November 26.

Patna University has started the MCA course this year and the course will function from the department of statistics. The results of the entrance examination, which was conducted on November 14, will be declared on November 18.

R.N. Mishra, the controller of the MCA department, said: “The results will be declared on November 18. Over 200 students appeared for the entrance examination for 40 seats.”

The statistics department started the MCA course this year with an aim to meet the huge demand of BCA and other science graduates who wanted to pursue MCA.

The department boasted that though there was a delay in starting the course — as other universities in Bihar had started the course long time back — it would meet the demands of students, who wanted to pursue courses in computer science.

Head of the department, MCA, Arun Kumar Sinha said: “We have received huge response after getting applications five times more than the total seats. Moreover, to start the semester on time, the entire MCA department remained opened on holidays and Sundays. Sinha said: “Professors and other employees of MCA have worked even on Sundays, Diwali and Chhath so that the course can start on time.”

The MCA department boasts that the course papers have been prepared after studying the syllabus of various universities and it is one of the best and modern courses so far. Apart from these, the fee structure of Patna University is less compared to other universities. The first year semester fee is Rs 24,000 followed by five other semesters of six thousand each. It means the total fee structure for the entire course is Rs 54,000, which is less compared to other universities and private institutions.
