Union home secretary R.K. Singh visited the construction site of an integrated check post (ICP) on Friday to resolve the land dispute between farmers and the government.
Construction work of the ICP near the India-Nepal border has been stalled since April.
Singh talked to officials and farmers and virtually rejected the tillers’ proposal of a revised rate of compensation against their acquired land in the second phase. The compensation demand in the second phase is two-three times more than the rate at which the plots were acquired in the first phase. Plots were acquired in two phases.
