Patna, Feb. 24: Rohtas police today claimed to have busted a gang involved in narcotics deals. Three members of the gang were arrested and heroin worth Rs 15 lakh was seized from their possession.

Rohtas superintendent of police (SP) Manu Maharaj said acting on a tip-off, a police team raided Jani Bazaar on Station Road under Dehri police station and arrested Dinesh Singh, an active member of the gang. Thereafter, the team later raided Beda village and nabbed two accomplices of Dinesh, identified as Ravi Bind and Pramod Bind. Several packets of heroin worth Rs 15 lakh and Rs 6,500 were found on them.

The SP said the links of the arrested persons with drug peddlers of other states were being verified. “The police have launched a special drive against narcotics,” he added.

The arrested men were earlier booked on charge of supplying narcotics in 2008.

In another operation, the police nabbed two arms suppliers and seized five country-made pistols. The raid was conducted when Murlidhar Mishra and Suresh Sah were waiting at Bikram- ganj bus stand to deliver the consignment.

“The arms were to be supplied to an militant outfit operating in the area. The banned outfit is trying to expand its base and they require arms for the purpose,” the SP added.
