Ara: Under mounting pressure, three out of four rape accused, Golu Singh, Mukul Singh and Ashish alias LIC, surrendered in the court of the chief judicial magistrate on Saturday and were sent to the Ara jail under judicial custody in connection with the gang-rape of a BSc Part I student in Ara and making of a video of the incident.
The fourth accused, Vishal Kumar, had also come to surrender but he fled from the court after someone told him that his name was not listed in the FIR. A named FIR was lodged with the police under a women's police station in Bhojpur district against the four.
The women's police station house officer, Poonam Kumari, said a team had conducted raids at different places in Bhojpur district and also at Chhapra in Saran district to arrest the named accused.
She said the accused lured the girl while she was returning from a coaching centre, intoxicated her and then gang-raped her at Chhapra. The accused also made a video of the incident and threatened her with dire consequences saying that she and her family members would be killed and the video would be made viral on social media if she dared to say anything regarding the incident. She added that the cops will take the three on remand for further interrogation.
