Patna, July 26: Three teenagers named accused in the alleged gang rape of a girl in the state capital and circulation of the incident through multi-media clips and CDs have surrendered in various parts of the country.

The prime accused, who was allegedly going around with the Class XII girl of a city-based school, surrendered in the Baruganj police station of Shimla in Himachal Pradesh late last night, while another teenager gave in today at a police station in Jalandhar, Punjab. Both were arrested after they surrendered.

“The third accused, who had allegedly made the CD and blackmailed her, was arrested after he surrendered at Jaidpur in Chhapra of Saran district,” Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Am-rit Raj told The Telegraph.

The fourth accused was still on the run though raids were on to catch him.

On June 14, the boys had lured the victim to a house and allegedly raped her. They allegedly filmed the incident on video, made CDs and MMS clips and circulated them among their friends. Sources said the teenagers were also accused of selling the CDs.

An FIR was lodged on Tuesday at the Women’s Police Station on the basis of a report by the Bihar State Women’s Commission. Chandramukhi Devi, a member of the Bihar State Women’s Commission, said the panel had taken cognisance of the case after the incident was telecast by some television channels.

The SSP said the victim has registered her statement to the Bihar State Women’s Commission and it was sent to the DGP.

“In her statement the girl claimed that she knew the prime accused for over a year and he wanted to marry her,” Raj quoted the girl’s statement. The teenager had returned from New Delhi to Patna on June 14 and allegedly asked the victim to visit an apartment. The victim said that on reaching the apartment, she found the prime accused there and three others. The girl said the accused filmed the incident.

Sources in the police said one of the accused who had allegedly filmed the incident later called her to a cyber café in the state capital and showed her the CD. “The boy tried to blackmail her with the CD,” a source said.

The SSP said the police were yet to ascertain the exact age of the accused. “Prima facie it appears that they are minors. The prime accused is expected to be brought to the state capital by a team of Patna police by tomorrow. It would take a couple of more days to bring back the boy caught in Jalandhar. The third accused nabbed in Chhapra will be brought back tomorrow,” he added.

The sources said the prime accused had a brother living in Shimla and he had fled there. “They had taken shelter in their relatives’ places. The boy caught from Chhapra has a house in Jaidpur,” Raj said, adding that the medical examination of the victim was conducted today.

“We are awaiting the report of the medical examination. The victim’s clothes will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory,” the SSP said.

The girl deposited before judicial magistrate Rashmi. The sources added the victim identified the flat in the New Punaichak area where shw was allegedly assaulted.
