Patna, Feb. 7: Three persons were killed and another was critically injured in two road accidents involving tractors in the state today.
The first accident occurred in the Dhowapul area along the Bakhtiarpur-Nawada border, about 45km from the state capital, around 1.30am, police said.
“An SUV carrying about 10 persons, who were going to Bakhtiarpur from Nawada to attend a religious ceremony, hit a tractor moving along the same road and turned turtle. Both the vehicles were speeding. Two women and a seven-year-old child were killed in the accident,” an officer at the Bakhtiarpur police station said.
The police said they were yet to trace the tractor involved in the mishap.
“The accident occurred very early in the morning after which the tractor sped away. We are trying to locate the vehicle. About five persons suffered injuries in the accident,” the officer said.
“The bodies of the three victims have been sent to the Barh government hospital for autopsy,” the officer added.
In the second accident in the Hajiganj area under the Chowk police station in Patna City, a speeding tractor hit the bike of Manoj Kumar, an employee with an electronic media house.
He was on his way to drop his seven-year-old son to school.
“The child is in a critical condition and has been admitted to a private nursing home. We have learnt that he is undergoing a surgery. The incident occurred around 7am,” the police officer added.
