Tejashwi hurls Srijan salvo at Sushil & CM

Patna: Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Thursday declared that if his father can go to jail in the fodder scam case on the basis of having knowledge about the embezzlement then chief minister Nitish Kumar should be sent to prison in the Srijan scam.

Tejashwi returned from New Delhi on Thursday and was reacting to the income-tax raid on the residence of Rekha Modi, cousin of deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, over the Srijan scam.

"If Lalu ji can be send behind bars just on the basis of having knowledge about the scam then the same thing should apply to Nitishji in the Srijan scam. This case is fit to send him jail. We have been saying from day one that there is involvement of not only Nitish but Sushil Kumar Modi as well along with his sister Rekha Modi," Tejashwi told reporters at Patna airport.

He had gone to Delhi with his mother Rabri Devi to appear before Patiala House Courts on September 1 after the Enforcement Directorate filed the charge sheet against them in the land-for-railway hotels case. The court granted both of them bail on personal bond. Rabri returned to Patna with Tejashwi.

Tejashwi claimed that the RJD had earlier showed proof of the government bigwigs' involvement in the Srijan scam and that Nitish knew that government money was being transferred to the NGO.

"The CAG report of 2008 had clearly mentioned that how the government funds were being transferred to the Srijan account," he said. "I wonder why Sushil Modi and the chief minister have not yet been arrested. If a fair investigation is carried out Sushil Modi will go to jail and even the chief minister will go to jail for sure because the scam was very much in his knowledge."

He alleged that the special investigation team (SIT) was formed by Nitish and sent to Bhagalpur to tamper with evidence against the CM.

"We all know how a blue-eyed officer was leading the SIT and was sent there to tamper with the evidence. Where are the son and daughter-in-law of late Manorama Devi (Srijan NGO boss)? Government money was getting transferred to the NGO's account and the finance minister was not aware of it? Rekha Modi was acting on the instruction of Sushil Modiji. If the money was going away from the treasury don't you think that the then finance minister should be equally responsible?" Tejashwi asked.
