Patna: Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Saturday visited Nandan village in Buxar district where 38 people have been arrested following the attack on chief minister Nitish Kumar's convoy on January 12.
He met people at ward number seven in the village from where most of the Dalit community members were arrested. Seeing broken roads and incomplete drainage work, Tejashwi, leader of Opposition in the Assembly, said: "Look at this road, it has broken in just a week and this is the work Nitish ji has done in the village. If he had stopped here and listened to the villagers' complaints, nothing would have happened. With the help of police, Nitishji is torturing poor villagers from the Dalit and Mahadalit communities."
Nitish's convoy was attacked by residents, angry over lack of development works in their locality.
Tejashwi, who the JDU has pointedly blamed along with the RJD, for the attack went to the village accompanied by former Buxar MP Jagadanand Singh, Brahampur MLA Shambhu Nath Yadav, Karakat MLA Sanjay Yadav and other local leaders in Buxar, Rohtas and Kaimur districts.
He went to a few huts and met the family members of those arrested for the attack. He assured them that the RJD would not sit quiet till the people arrested in the alleged fake case were released.
The RJD, Tejashwi said, will launch a campaign across the state to expose Nitish for the alleged atrocities meted out to Dalits since the chief minister formed the government with the BJP last July.
"Through the Samiksha Yatra, Nitish ji wants to give pain to Dalits but I have come here to share your sorrow," Tejashwi told the crowd that gathered to listen to him. "I want to become a part of your pain. I am happy being leader of the Opposition but Nitishji despite being on the CM's chair that he stole is panicked and disappointed. I feel pity for Nitish ji."
Before going to Buxar, Tejashwi also met the family of Puran Chero, who allegedly died in police custody few days ago, in Kaimur district.
