Patna: RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Thursday slammed chief minister Nitish Kumar stressing that chief minister Nitish Kumar's claim that crime had gone down after prohibition was hollow.
Tejashwi made the statement while interacting with the media outside Patna airport after returning from Mumbai, where he had gone to see his father, Lalu Prasad, who is admitted in the Asian Heart Institute (AHI).
Citing the recent crime episodes which have rocked the state, Tejashwi alleged that criminals had no fear from Nitish's police and people were living under fear in Bihar.
The Leader of Opposition cited the example of Bihiya, where a 50-year-old woman was paraded naked in Bhojpur district, how an under-secretary level official was shot dead at his residence in Patna apart from the block pramukh, who was shot dead in Jandaha, Vaishali.
"Nitish ji does not have control on criminals and criminals do not have any fear of the administration and the police. Rapes, gang-rapes are taking place, under-secretary-level officer has been shot dead, public representative has been shot dead in Jandaha and institutional rape is taking place in Bihar. What more can I say when the Supreme Court has said that the Muzaffarpur shelter home case was state-sponsored. Nitishji's claim that crime has gone down after prohibition is hollow," Tejashwi said.
Without naming anyone, Tejashwi asked that as being the home minister of the state, who was responsible for the failure of law and order?
"My chacha used to say that after prohibition, the crime graph has gone down but seeing the present situation, it shows that the police has no control over criminals. Now, the government is trying to shield the accused in Muzaffarpur shelter home case. I know that the JDU will blame us for everything. The tactics they are using against us for the past many years," Tejashwi said.
On Wednesday, the JDU leaders had levelled serious charges at the RJD that the crime in the state had risen because of the RJD and in every incident, it was RJD leaders who were involved. The JDU went on to claim that even in the Bihiya episode, out of 15 people arrested, six belonged to the RJD.
Tejashwi iterated that if Nitish and deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi didn't ask BJP minister Suresh Sharma to resign, then he (Tejashwi) will reveal some strong evidence against Suresh after which both (Nitish and Sushil) will be forced to make Suresh resign. "I am honestly saying, not joking that I have a bomb. I will explode it after which the minister has to resign if he does not resign by himself before that," Tejashwi said, adding that Nitish had enough time to awaken his antaratma now or else, Tejashwi will wake him up.
