Patna: Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Monday wrote to chief minister Nitish Kumar, bringing to his attention that Bihar was completely neglected in the budget presented in Parliament on February 1.

In the one-page letter written in Hindi, the leader of opposition wrote: "During the division of Bihar the demand of special category status to Bihar was at its peak and the then government (RJD) had tried their level best. But every one knows that the NDA leaders of Bihar made obstacles to the demand."

He slammed the current government, accusing it of murdering the people's mandate.# "The government claims that pace of development will improve after having the same alliance at the Centre and state. Such kind of opinion is dangerous for the federal structure and also an insult to the Constitution," Tejashwi wrote. "Bihar has been completely neglected in the Union budget 2018 and you (read Nitish Kumar) have failed to bring anything from your senior party. Neither the special category status to Bihar was given nor the special package and flood relief aid."

He asked Nitish to raise his voice against Bihar being ignored in the budget. "If you fail to do so, then the people will understand that your demand for special status category to Bihar was just another jumla," Tejashwi said.
