An engineering graduate committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his Ashoka Tower flat in the Rajabazaar area of the state capital on Sunday.
Police said no suicide note was found in the room of the 26-year-old youth, Vivek Ranjan.
The incident came to light when Vivek, who was preparing for examinations to get a job in the army, did not open his room in the morning.
On not getting any response despite knocking on the door several times, Ranjan’s father, Rajiv Ranjan, broke it open and found his son hanging from the fan. He raised an alarm and immediately called up Shastrinagar police station. Rajiv is a manager with the Patna branch of Punjab National Bank.
“After returning from a gymnasium on Saturday evening, Vivek had dinner and went to bed around 10pm,” a police officer quoted Rajiv as saying. Sources said Vivek had done BTech from a Chennai-based institute. He had worked in Pune for some time.
