Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Friday laid the foundation stone of Rajkumari Tarakant Industrial Training Institute (RTITI) at Shiv Nagar village in Madhubani district.

Iterating his plan to spread development across the state, Nitish said: “We have initiated development across the state in every segment. This institute will be a boon for villagers who had to go outside the state for two square meals.”

“Today, there is a lot of scope inside Bihar and the people need not leave the state to earn a living,” he said, urging the people not to leave the state for better opportunities.

The institute is located under Benipatti block, around 40km south-west of the district headquarters.

The construction work of RTITI building is supposed to be completed within 18 months, as its “model map” has been prepared. The building of RTITI would be equipped with all modern facilities required for the skill development of students.

The 2012-14 session of the institute is likely to start from July this year from a hired building. Total 63 students will be able to take admission in the two-year-long fitter, electrician and IT courses.

A source said: “The institution will be developed with an estimated cost of Rs 6.33 crore within the next 18 months. The institute will be functional from this year itself, but once its building is constructed, it will have all modern facilities.”

Former chairman of Bihar Legislative Council Tarakant Jha, labour resources minister Janardan Singh Sigriwal and several other MLAs were present on the occasion. Jha had donated three acres of land for setting up the institute.

Sigriwal told The Telegraph: “We have earmarked land at 205 places for the 105 ITI colleges, which would be built in public-private-partnership mode.”

There are four ITI government colleges in Bihar for which an individual has donated land. RTITI is one of them. There are 69 government ITI colleges and over 400 private such institutes in the state.
