The district administration has set up a team to conduct surprise inspections at government offices and ensure that employees report to office on time.
The team, formed by district magistrate Narmadeshwar Lal, would submit reports on habitual late-comers or employees who take leaves frequently to him.
Sources in the district administration said the team would comprise additional district magistrate Dinesh Prasad, senior deputy collector Binda Prasad, two office assistants and a head clerk as its members.
A videographer and a photographer would accompany the team members to record scenes at offices the latter visits. “Truant employees would be asked to cite reasons for being absent or late. If they do not mend their ways, we will deduct specific amounts from their salaries. If the condition does not improve, we will initiate departmental proceedings against them,” Lal said.
“Some employees do not report on time or remain absent frequently. As a result, most schemes are not completed on time,” he added.
A source said: “A letter from the Lal’s office was sent to all offices on June 24, stating that the team would make surprise inspections. The team visited the agriculture office of Bahadurpur block, 4km east of the district headquarters, on Tuesday and found 12 officials absent.”
The team visited the electricity and the public health engineering departments on Thursday and found some absentees.
