Loyola High School celebrated its annual sports meet on Sunday braving the chilly weather.
The event witnessed some terrific performances and action on ground. It started with a coordinated march-past and the school band's performance added colour.
Children in multi-coloured dresses brimming with enthusiasm gave spectacular dance performances on themes such as peace, harmony and unity.
More than 200 students participated in different categories of sports, including 100m, 200m, frog and relay race, badminton, basketball, football and cricket under sub-junior (V and VI), junior (VII and VII), senior (IX and X) and super senior (XI and XII) categories.
Expressing happiness over the athletic activities organised under the annual meet and the inter-house competitions, principal Brother Sateesh said: 'Sports teaches teamwork. Working for a common goal, sports teaches one to deal with success and failure. It disciplines a person. Sports helps in the holistic education and growth of the children Holistic education cannot be achieved minus sports.' Medals rained on green house. With 13 medals, the house was declared champions with overall 267 points.
Parents remained glued to the action. 'It was my daughter's first performance. Glad she performed well,' said Amrita Sinha, whose daughter studies in Class II.
