More than 150 college teachers staged a fast outside the administrative building of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University on Tuesday in protest against the alleged inaction of vice-chancellor Bimal Kumar to improve the academic scenario.
Teachers from institutes such as Langat Singh College, Rameshwar Singh College and Ram Manohar Lohia College took part in the daylong fast organised under the banner of Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University Service Teachers’ Association.
The general-secretary of the association, Arun Kumar Singh, said: “The administration has failed to improve the academic scenario of the university. Nobody is in a mood to listen to the grievances of either the students or the teachers. The university is yet to regularise the academic session, which has been delayed by a year.” He alleged that many students have completed their graduation but did not get certificates.
The vice-chancellor and the registrar of the university, Arun Kumar, went to the agitation site and spoke to the teachers. “We have convened a meeting on Monday next week to look into their grievances,” the registrar told The Telegraph.
