Teachers demonstrate for better salary, capital crawls - What a waste of time, commuters spend over two hours for travelling just 400 metres

Commuters paid heavily on Wednesday for contractual teachers’ regular pay demand.

Around 5,000 panchayat- and urban local body-level teachers took out a protest march — Sikshak Adhikar Rally — demanding regular wages and blocked Dakbungalow Chowk. Within the 5km radius of the roundabaout, hardly anything moved for more than two hours. The commuters huffed and puffed, as the traffic went haywire.

Some commuters even faced the wrath of the protesters when they tried to manoeuvre with their vehicles through the blocked roads.

The protesters started their rally from Gandhi Maidan at 12.45pm and reached Dakbungalow Chowk at 1pm. It culminated at R-Block gate around 4.45pm.

From 1pm to 3pm, the commuters suffered silently. Travelling 400m took as long as two-and-a-half hours. The Telegraph mirrors the sufferings of the commuters going to some landmark destinations from the Dakbungalow roundabout:
