Sweet taste of early success

Five students from the environmental science department of Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) qualified the UGC-NET exams, held in December 2014.

Pradhan Parth Sarthi, the head of the Centre for Environmental Sciences said five students from his department - AftabAlam, Amrendra Kumar, Shardendu, Ramesh Yadav and Om Kumar have cracked the test.

Along with Sarthi, other faculty members of the centre - Prashant and Rajesh Kumar Ranjan - appreciated the achievements of the students and wished them good luck for the future.

"It should be noted that this year many students from other departments and centres of CUSB have cracked UGC-NET exam, which in turn has mane the university very popular. This has also raised the hopes of junior students, including the newly enrolled ones. Despite carrying its academic activities on the rented premises of Patna and Gaya, the faculty members are providing proper guidance to the students and the results are positive," added Pradhan.

Aftab Alam, one of the students who cracked the exam, said: "I feel really lucky that I qualified such a difficult exam with flying colours on my first attempt. It is like a dream come true for me."

Cleanliness Drive

Students and faculty members participate in the cleanliness drive organised by Central University of South Bihar on the Patna campus 

Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) observed a cleanliness drive week ( swachh bharat abhiyan) on its Patna and Gaya campuses.

Public relations officer (PRO) Mudassir Alam said the university was observing a cleanliness drive week, according to the guidelines received from the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Among many activities organised in the university on Thursday, staff members Manish Kumar, Sunil Kumar Sinha, Dheerendra Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Sudeep Kumar, Vijay Kumar and Nishant Joshi, cleaned the campus with brooms and vowed to keep the premises clean.

Similarly, a cleanliness drive was undertaken in the Centre for Mass Communication and Media studies under the supervision of Kinshuk Pathak, head of the Hindi department. In addition to this, Atul Kumar Tripathi and Raj Kumar cleaned the equipment in the computer laboratory, along with the students of the respective departments.

"Since the beginning of the drive, an awareness campaign was run among the faculty members, officers, staff and students through posters, e-mails and personal campaigns. As per the ministry guidelines, the universities have been asked to observe the cleanliness drive with special focus on the cleaning of offices, including common area premises, toilets and stairs outside the office. Parking lots and pathways are also included in the list," added the PRO.

Chandragupt Institute of Management, Patna (CIMP), in collaboration with management researchers from Stockholm Business School, has started a Centre for Research in Emerging Markets on its new campus in Mithapur.

Tony Fang and Nishant Kumar, from Stockholm Business School delivered the opening lecture and summarised the future activities. V. Mukunda Das, the director of CIMP, shared his vision for initiating research in areas, which have great potential for the future of Bihar and India.

"The future markets, especially that of countries like China and India, offers very high potential for developing strategies in marketing communications, product development and IT enable marketing. This will boost international relations by carrying out research and teaching programs with other universities and business schools. A proposal has been floated to organise workshops and conferences on emerging markets and global leadership and publish research papers in international business and management journals," said Fang.

Nishant Kumar said: " The initiative of CIMP is a landmark in the marketing research arena of developing countries. "
