Patna: Mayor Sita Sahu on Friday directed Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials to devote one hour daily on the Swachhata app where residents can upload complaints, and to address the grievances on priority.
The more people upload complaints on the app and the more the civic body is able to address them in a fixed timeframe, the more points the municipal corporation will get in the Centre's ongoing Swachh Sarvekshan (cleanliness survey). Citizen feedback in the survey has 35 per cent weight, up from 30 per cent in 201.
The mayor's direction came during a review meeting on Friday over the PMC's preparedness for the survey. Civic bodies that score well will get central assistance.
Residents can download the Swachhata App from Google Play Store and lodge complaints in nine categories such as unattended garbage, no sweeping, dead animal and no water or power in public toilets. The app has provision to upload images along with the complaint. The complaint is forwarded to the ward supervisor and a user can check the status of a complaint.
Mayor Sahu also asked PMC officials to popularise the pan-India four-digit Swachhata helpline - 1969 - among residents. The more the positive feedback on the toll-free number, the more points PMC would earn.
Mayor Sahu also directed executive officers and chief sanitary inspectors to conduct cleanliness drives in wards in collaboration with the councillors.
