Patna, Nov. 11: Former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi today warned district magistrates (DMs) and superintendents of police (SPs) of all districts to not receive former chief minister Nitish Kumar during his Sampark Yatra.
“All such officers should be very careful as an eye would be kept on them,” Sushil said, adding that in 11 months’ time, a new government would be in place in Bihar so these officers should be careful,” he told reporters after janata durbar at his residence today.
“I am writing a letter to the chief secretary and director-general of police in this regard to stop DMs and SPs of respective districts to receive Nitish during his yatra,” he added, and asked whether former chief ministers Lalu Prasad and Jagannnath Mishra would be accorded same privilege while they go on tour.
He said: “In the letter, I will also ask the chief secretary and the DGP to stop the hooters on pilot cars of Nitish’s cavalcade and enforcement of traffic regulations while Nitish will be on the tour. This is against rule.”
Nitish will start Sampark Yatra from West Champaran district on November 13, apparently to launch a campaign for the Assembly polls next year. He will address 32 public meetings in as many districts. Sushil accused the government of misusing official machineries as he said to make Nitish’s yatra successful ministers and officers of different departments are collecting donations.
He further said for the last month Nitish was busy in conducting meetings with different cells of the party asking the workers to remain present in large number during the yatra as it fears bleak response from the public.
He also took a swipe at Nitish for not meeting victims of Dussehra stampede, Hunkar Rally, Forbesganj and Rohtas firing cases and rape victims of Kurmuri (Rohtas) and said this shows the “government’s apathy towards public concern”.
