The urban development and housing department will survey 20 lakh households in June that fall under the jurisdiction of urban local bodies to pursue three of chief minister Nitish Kumar's seven resolves.
The three resolves include drinking water, toilets and drainage connection to every household.
Each surveyor will survey 50 households and 1km of road every day, thus covering 350 households in seven days. Besides, a supervisor will also be deputed in each ward to look after the surveyor's work. A control room will be set up in every urban local body to coordinate the survey work.
A training workshop was held at Adhiveshan Bhavan on Friday for senior officials from 11 municipal corporations, 42 municipal councils and 87 nagar panchayats. The workshop was chaired by urban development and housing department minister Maheshwar Hazari.
Senior department officials, including principal secretary Chaitanya Prasad, were also present.
"The urban development and housing department has been assigned three schemes out of the chief minister's seven resolves," said Hazari. "We are going to conduct surveys in the urban areas with regard to availability of drinking water, toilets, drains and roads. Surveyors have to get survey forms signed either by the head of the household or any other person on their behalf."
The minister added that an action plan is being formulated to divide the work in three categories.
"The schemes will be executed using funds provided by the Centre and the state governments as well as those received under the 14th Finance Commission," he said.
Principal secretary Chaitanya expressed disappointment over the slow progress in construction of toilets in various urban local bodies under the Centre's Swachch Bharat scheme.
The reports furnished in the workshop stated that not a single toilet was constructed in Patna whereas the target was to set up 60,000 toilets by 2015. The aim is to complete all the three schemes within five years.
