Chhath devotees should heave a sigh of relief as weathermen have ruled out dense foggy conditions during evening and morning arghya (obeisance).

Chilly conditions are also unlikely over the next two-three days though the devotees will feel a nip in the air.

So far as the wind is concerned, dry westerly winds are blowing at an average speed of 6-7kmph and it is expected to be around the same on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning when devotees would offer arghya to the Sun God.

R.K. Giri, a senior meteorologist at Patna Meteorological Centre, told The Telegraph on Sunday: "The next three days are most likely to be bright with no possibilities of precipitation. Mist can be observed up to 7am and after 4pm. Humidity would go up to a maximum of 90 per cent."

In meteorological parlance, it's winter in Bihar if night readings stay below 13°C for a week. Now, the minimum readings in most districts is hovering around 16-18°C.

Weathermen claimed the minimum temperature would hover around 14-15°C on most days this week and would drop below 13°C in the next week.

"I have started using a woollen cap and an inners under my jogging suit when I go out for my morning walk," said Shailendra Kumar, a government employee, who goes to the zoo for his morning stroll.

Dr Diwakar Tejaswi said: "When there is a sudden change of atmospheric temperature, the thermoregulatory mechanism is not able to quickly adapt to it and this causes destabilisation in the body. Morning walkers, especially aged people, should wear warm clothes while going for jogging. People should also take sufficient water."

Final ghat recce

Divisional commissioner Anand Kishor on Sunday made a final inspection of ghats with officials concerned on Nahay Khay, the first day of the four-day Chhath celebration.
