Bhagalpur, Dec. 8: Teachers of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) have decided to intensify the agitation in protest against the university for non-implementation of the high court directive on the shifting of absorption dates of teachers.
University Department Teachers’ Association (UDTA) — the body of teachers of the postgraduate departments of TMBU — decided to accelerate the movement further.
UDTA resorted to a demonstration yesterday at the venue where the meeting of syndicate members was held on December 7 evening.
A section of the syndicate, mostly teachers, yesterday walked out of the syndi cate meeting to protest against the indifferent attitude of the university management.
Before the walkout, the meeting was disrupted frequently over the issue.
Amita Moitra, a member of Udta, said recently the varsity had made changes in the date of absorption of more than 400 teachers follow ing the directive of Justice Aftab Alam given in CWJC 5859.
The changes in the absorption dates in many cases had adversely affected promotion of the teachers.
Moitra added: “A substantial number of teachers had to face demotion due to change in the absorption dates.”
Members of Udta pointed out that after TMBU’s move was challenged in the court, the Patna High Court had ordered a stay on the implementation of the notification earlier issued.
The notification was issued by the university making changes in the dates of absorption.
The directive of the court, however, was pending in the case of the teachers, members of UDTA said.
