Nalanda and Rohtas districts have achieved almost cent per cent of their target in preparation of electoral photo identity cards (EPICs).

The state has achieved 92.29 per cent of the target as far preparation of EPICs are concerned.

The figure was revealed by chief electoral officer of Bihar, Sudhir KumarRakesh, in Patna on Friday.

Rakesh said some districts performed well in preparation of electoral photo identity cards (EPICs) compared to previous parliamentary and state Assembly elections. “We want to achieve the remaining 7 to 8 per cent at the earliest,” he added. He said Buxar attained 99.36 per cent of the target.

Rakesh said a new programme, christened Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation, would be launched from October 1, 2012 to ensure EPICs to all eligible voters spread across 243 Assembly constituencies in the state.

Rakesh said complainants whose photographs did not figure in the voter lists would be entertained between October 1 and October 31, 2012.

“A special drive would be launched on October 7, 14 and 21 to receive applications of voters for inclusion of names from the booth-level agents,” he said.

He said all complaints and claims of applicants would be disposed of by December 1. The data of eligible voters would be uploaded on the official website of the chief electoral officer, Bihar (http://ceobihar.nic.in) between December 1 and 31, he said.
