Squash champion…

Is 18-year-old Shivam Kant, who has won several state tournaments. In 2011, he qualified for the National Games in Jharkhand.

Unique appeal…

Of squash drew Shivam towards the game in 2008. A Class VIII student of St Xavier's School then, he was inspired by friend Shamsul Arfin, another squash player. Soon the two started playing together.

Guiding light...

For Shivam are his parents Surya Kant Das and Reeta Devi, who have always supported him in all his endeavours.

Awards galore...

For Shivam. He won the 1st Junior State Squash Championship for Boys & Girls organised by Indian Institute Health Cup in 2008. In 2010, he came second in the 2nd Junior State Squash Championship for Boys & Girls. He was the state champion in the 1st Sub-Junior State Squash Championship for Boys & Girls in 2011 organised by Bihar State Squash Racket Association.

Other sports…

Like badminton and billiards also fascinate Shivam.

Only concern…

For Shivam is few opportunities for growth in sports. “Even the state capital does not have much to offer when it comes to squash,” says the young sportsman.

Tech dreams…

Are a driving factor for the teen, who aims to become a computer engineer.
