Events related to road safety would be organised in the 38 districts of Bihar in which non-government organisations, common man, representatives from transport associations, fuel stations and bank officers would also participate.

Transport secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal said the plan has been chalked out at the state and district levels. Agarwal said the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority would lend its support for the road safety week at the state level.

Traffic police and Rotary Club Patna will identify 500 students and a painting competition would be organised in which the club will provide pencils, crayons and refreshments.

The place for the contest would be selected by the traffic superintendent of police.

Agarwal said Patna Municipal Corporation will remove encroachment of illegal banners and hoardings under The Bihar Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1985.

A proper advertisement would be brought out before the drive.

Insurance companies have been asked to start a drive to dispose off cases of accident claim funds.

At the district level, the road safety week would be organised under the supervision of district magistrates.

Agarwal said the district magistrates will form a committee, which will have district-level officers of every department, sub-division, block and circle as members.

"NCC cadets, scouts and guides, along with school students will bring out a candle march to create awareness about road safety at the district level. Those who violate traffic would be given roses by schoolchildren asking them to abide by the rules. Even streetplays would be organised," Agarwal said.
