Muzaffarpur, Aug. 10: The district administration has made necessary arrangements to commemorate the 103rd death anniversary of Khudiram Bose on Thursday at 4.02am.
Tirhut divisional commissioner S.M. Raju, district magistrate Santosh Kumar Mall, zonal inspector-general of police Gupteshwar Pandey, deputy inspector-general of police Bacchu Singh Meena and senior superintendent of police Rajesh Kumar, along with the members of Bihar Bengali Samaj and schoolchildren, will pay their homage to the martyr at Khudiram Bose Central Jail, where he was hanged to death on August 11, 1908.
Raju told The Telegraph: “The function to pay homage to Khudiram Bose on the jail premises has been planned. The district administration has decided to involve schoolchildren and members of Bihar Bengali Samaj and other organisations.”
The district public relations officer, Shiv Shankar Singh, has issued passes to the school authorities and the social organisations concerned. The main event would include two-minute silence and a mass prayer at exactly 4.02am, the time when Bose was hanged at the age of 18.
Singh said Mall has planned a 38-minute programme, including floral tributes inside the cell where Bose was confined, tributes on the spot where he was hanged to death and two-minute silence on the jail campus as a mark of respect for the departed soul.
The cell where Bose was hanged would remain open for visitors between 3am and 5am so that they can offer their tributes. Raju also said representatives from the Bengal government are expected to visit the jail to pay their tributes to the bust of Bose at the jail tonight.
Lok Sabha members from Muzaffarpur and Vaishali, Captain Jai Narayan Nishad and Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Rajya Sabha member Anil Sahni and members of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council from Muzaffarpur have also been invited to take part in the commemoration ceremony.
The district administration has made arrangements to offer tributes to Bose at the Khudiram Bose Memorial site in the Companybagh area.
