Patna, Dec. 29: Aishwariya Nigam’s exciting voice today augmented the vibrant atmosphere of Rajgir Mahotsav on its last day.

Nigam, the voice of Salman Khan in the chartbuster Munni badnam hui…, was not the only star at the festival though. Over three days, Bollywood singer Alka Yagnik and ghazal duo Roop Kumar Rathod and Sonali Rathod also helped to weave a mellifluous atmosphere at Qila Maidan, Rajgir — the venue for the festival. The audience was also entertained by a foot-tapping performance of Prince Dance Group.

Besides music and dance, a number of other events, including painting and art competition, wrestling and a tonga race were also organised. Local artisans displayed their handicraft at an exhibition. Fairs, including a Krishi Mela, were also organised, a part of the mahotsav.

State tourism minister Sunil Kumar “Pintu” told The Telegraph: “This year, the Rajgir festival was fresh and more colourful. It attracted a large number of tourists, especially from the north-eastern states and Bhutan. Many popular artistes performed here.”

The minister added that the festival would be organised on a larger scale next year.

Chief minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the fest, organised to promote tourism in Rajgir, on December 27. He had reiterated the need to develop the town as a heritage site as well as a destination for eco-tourism.
