Gaya, Feb. 27: The foundation stone-laying ceremony of Central University of Bihar (CUB) became a political agenda with rivals hurling charges against each other on Thursday.
Chaos prevailed during the function at Panchanpur today when some activists vented their anger by raising slogans against the JD(U)’s Tekari MLA, Anil Kumar. The MLA, too, lost his cool and asked the slogan-raising activists to remain silent.
As soon as Anil reached the podium and was about to address the audience, some activists started raising slogans against him. The MLA immediately reacted in strong words. This led to a commotion at the venue, as supporters of the MLA and the activists got involved in verbal duel.
Additional superintendent of police Ashok Kumar Singh, sadar sub-divisional officer Maqsood Alam, deputy development commissioner Vijay Kumar and other officers present at the event had a tough time controlling the crowd.
Addressing the function, human resource development minister P.K. Shahi said public representatives should behave by rising above politics.
“The foundation stone laying ceremony of CUB is a special moment and we all should be proud of it,” he said.
On the other hand, the news about the expulsion of JD(U) MP from Aurangabad, Sushil Kumar Singh, too, spread at the event venue where he was present. Reacting to his expulsion, Singh said he had already bid goodbye to the JD(U). “It is chief minister Nitish Kumar, who took time in taking a decision and announce it,” he said.
