| BJP state president Dr CP Thakur (centre) checks out advanced medical equipment at Bihar Institute of Gastro-enterology in Patna on Thursday. Patients suffering from cancer of the pancreas, oesophagus and stomach, will now be able to reap the benefit of machines such as endoscopic-ultrasound, manometry and breath test equipment inaugurated at the health hub. The managing director of the hospital, Sanjeev Kumar, said: “The endoscopic-ultrasound helps detect different kinds of cancer as well as common bile duct stone. We can also detect tumour in the pancreas with it. Bihar Institute of Gastro-enterology is the first hospital in Bihar or Jharkhand to install the machine.” Director of the hospital Dr Vijay Prakash said: “The hospital has spent more than Rs 1 crore to purchase the equipment.” Thakur said: “People in Bihar suffer from different diseases of the stomach.
