Patna, Jan. 22: Police would prepare a sketch of the youth whose face was uncovered during a robbery at Ram Sakal Singh’s Buddha Colony residence yesterday.

“Our investigation is on and raids have been conducted at various places,” Buddha Colony police station house officer Vinod Kumar said.

“Prima facie it appears that the incident is the handiwork of some local criminals and not professionals. We can say this because the criminals entered the house through the front gate and they fled on knowing that Singh’s son has arrived. Based on Singh’s information, we would prepare a sketch of the youth whose face was uncovered,” he added.

Singh was alone when three criminals barged into his house yesterday. He said: “It was around 6.15pm when three criminals, faces of two were covered, entered my house. They were aged between 25 and 30 years. One youth, whose face was uncovered, had a pistol. He was clean-shaven and tall. He asked me not to shout, brandishing his pistol.”

Singh’s son Radhika Raman Singh, who is a doctor posted at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital, arrived in a car while the robbers were in action. When he found the gates of the house open, Radhika got suspicious. On seeing Radhika entering the house, two criminals whose faces were covered, escaped while the youth with the pistol hit Singh with the gun and fled. The youth even flashed a pistol at Radhika but didn’t assault him. The criminals fled with Rs 15,000, a mobile phone and two watches, the police said.

Singh, a retired additional district magistrate, whose son and daughter-in-law are both doctors, lives in an area where former director-general of police (DGP) Neel Mani, family of former DGP W.H. Khan and many other top police and administrative officers reside.
