Motihari: At least six passengers were injured, one of them seriously, after a Muzaffarpur-bound bus from New Delhi skidded off the road and fell into a ditch in East Champaran on Monday morning.
Preceded by the infamous Belwa bus accident and a separate accident on June 29, this is the latest in the series of accidents which occurred in the Kotwa police station area of East Champaran in the past few weeks. According to the police, a bus on its way to Muzaffarpur from New Delhi fell into a roadside ditch after the bus driver lost control over the vehicle at Kadam Chawk at Kotwa, leaving six passengers injured. The accident occurred around 7.30am.
Vijay Kumar Sinha, the station house officer of Kotwa police station, said the injured persons were rushed to the primary health centre soon after the accident.
On June 29, six persons were injured in a bus accident near the Rajapur bridge in Kotwa. On May 3, a Delhi-bound bus from Muzaffarpur skidded off the road and burst into flames at Belwa village in East Champaran. The passengers had a miraculous escape.
Officer dies
Sangita Kumari, a child development project officer (CDPO) posted at Biharsharif, was killed in a road accident on the Bhaktiyrapur four-lane highway on Monday morning.
Sangita and her driver, Srinath, were going to join duty in Patna when their car met with the accident. Srinath too was killed in the accident. A tyre burst triggered the accident, as the car collided with a road divider soon after.
The impact of collision was so strong that both died on the spot.
