Patna: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a group of six youngsters at a village falling under the jurisdiction of Krishnagarh police station in Bhojpur district, police said on Wednesday.

The alleged tormenters held the girl captive and raped her in an agricultural field when she had gone to attend the call of nature on the night of January 31.

The girl's family reported the incident to the police only on Tuesday after returning to their native village from Kolkata on Monday.

The station house officer (SHO) of Bhojpur woman police station, Poonam Kumari, said the incident took place when the girls'parents had gone to Bengal for some important work.

The accused left the girl only when her condition deteriorated. She was rushed to the Ara sadar hospital for treatment.

The girl was later produced before a judicial magistrate to record her statement under Section 164 of CrPC. The accused were identified as Krishna Yadav, Rahul Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Mithilesh, Guddu and Sumeran.

On Wednesday, Krishna was arrested from Padminia village and sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

An investigating officer said the offenders also filmed the crime and uploaded the video on a social networking site.

As the girl was alone, the offenders threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the incident to the police or anybody.

The SHO of the woman police station said medical examination of the girl, a student of Class VIII, was conducted at the Ara sadar hospital on Tuesday.

"The medical report of the examination is still awaited," she told The Telegraph over phone.

The SHO claimed raids were underway to nab the remaining five named accused who were absconding after the incident.

This is the second incident of rape in Bhojpur district in the last one month.

On December 21, a seven-year-old girl was gang-raped and subsequently murdered by her co-resident when she had gone to relieve herself in a field under the jurisdiction of Tarari police station of the district.

On Saturday, a young married woman was brutally assaulted by a youth when she protested an attempt to rape her at a village falling under the jurisdiction of Charpokhri police station of the district.

A named FIR has been lodged in connection with the incident.

The sudden rise in incidents of rape has left senior police officials of the district red-faced.

Also, on January 27, a married woman was gang-raped by four persons at Pawna village under the jurisdiction of Pawna police station of the district. The incident took place when the woman had gone to relieve herself in an agriculture field.

The incident had sparked off tension in the village. The police have failed to arrest any of the accused in the case so far even after the woman revealed the identities of the offenders, who were all residents of the same village.

The residents accused the police of adopting a callous attitude when it comes to arresting the culprits.

"Murder, rape and robbery have become order of the day. The spurt in the incidents of crime is a matter of concern for the police," said a resident of Pawna.
