Patna divisional commissioner Anand Kishor on Friday convened a meeting to take stock of the 350th birthday celebrations of Guru Gobind Singh in Patna.
Patna happens to be the tenth Sikh guru's birthplace.
The festival, Prakash Utsav, will begin on December 25, 2016 and conclude on January 7, 2017.
He announced that strict action will be taken against officials who are not efficient in preparing for the festivities.
Accompanied by Patna district magistrate (DM) Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Patna Municipal Corporation commissioner Jai Singh, Patna superintendent of police (east) Dhurat Sayali Sablaram, Takhat Saheb Prabandhak Committee general secretary Sardar Sarjinder Singh and others, Kishore said: "People from all over the world will attend the festival and it is a question of Bihar's image. So there cannot be any compromise on this part."
Punjab chief minister Prakash Singh Badal had met chief minister Nitish Kumar three months back and Nitish had assured him of his best efforts to ensure that the festival is successful.
Gandhi Maidan will be the epicentre of the festival as devotees will camp there.
"The design for accommodation is being prepared and once it is done, we will take care of the other facilities such as toilets, drinking water and sewerage," said Kishor.
A large number of devotees are expected to visit Patna during the function that has been christened Prakash Utsav.
Kishor instructed the DM to inspect all the government and private schools adjoining Gandhi Maidan so that additional facilities like parking zones can be created.
Kishor directed the PMC commissioner to install streetlights in Patna City as required. He instructed Sarjinder to widen the gate behind the gurdwara to serve as an alternate route for the devotees.
Railway officials were asked to clean the tracks between Gulzarbagh and Patna City stations. The road construction department is to complete the drain construction on Ashok Rajpath to spare the devotees any trouble.
The Bihar State Water Board was directed to change the water pipe at Harmandir Gali and Baade Gali as soon as possible.
