Patna: BJP's Patna Sahib MP Shatrughan Sinha a.k.a. Shotgun will share the stage with RJD leader and former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav at a programme where the Narendra Modi government's policies will come under attack.
The event is being organised by National Forum, which has been floated by yet another BJP leader, former Union minister Yashwant Sinha. The event will be held at the city's Shri Krishna Memorial Hall on April 21.
The front is like a platform which has leaders from several parties, including the Congress, Samajwadi Party and Aam Aadmi Party among others. It was launched on January 30 in Delhi and the Patna event could mark the beginning of a coalition of all like-minded people and parties who share the platform's broader ideas.
The forum's goals include protecting the democratic framework of the country, raising issues concerning farmers, youths and weaker sections and minorities and making the government of the day answerable to the people of the country.
The April 21 event is to be attended by Yashwant Sinha himself in addition to the SP's Ghanshyam Tiwari, Dinesh Trivedi of the Trinamul Congress, Ajit Singh' son and Rashtriya Lok Dal vice-president Jayant Singh, Sanjay Singh and Ashutosh from AAP and former Bihar Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary.
Forum member and retired IFS officer K.C. Singh and Ghanshyam Tiwari shared this information at a media interaction on Wednesday.
Asked to name the Congress leader who will join the April 21 event, Singh said the party had not yet finalised the name but a prominent face of the party would be there.
Tiwari and Singh avoided a direct answer to whether the forum was floated as a platform for creating a coalition of Opposition parties, but the SP national spokesperson hinted that the Patna event could be a beginning in this direction. "Bihar has always given direction to the politics of the country. I believe the Patna event will be another milestone in this direction," Tiwari said. He also claimed the BJP was bound to lose the 2019 general elections and the forum would provide a platform for identifying the issues on the basis of which an alternative can come up before the people of the country.
