Bhagalpur, April 6: BJP's national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain urged party workers to work hard in the Assembly polls to strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi's hands and change Bihar's fate.

He was addressing party workers from different parts of Bhagalpur, Naugachia, Banka, Jamui and Munger districts on Monday.

The party's Bihar in-charge, Bhupendra Yadav, could not arrive because of a meeting in New Delhi.

Addressing the meeting in Tilka Manjhi area, Shahnawaz lauded the efforts of party workers and leaders by virtue of which the BJP had emerged as the biggest political party in the world now with over 10 crore members.

He told The Telegraph that the agenda of Monday's meet was to review the progress of the party's membership drive and prepare for the proposed BJP rally in Patna on April 24.

"In Bhagalpur, we have roped in 73,000 members and our target is to raise it to one crore. That is why the membership drive has been extended here." He claimed the BJP was expanding rapidly and Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad were among the first to notice the party's rising strength.

He criticised rivals for trying to defame the party on the land acquisition bill issue.

"The BJP would always protect the interests of farmers and never aim to help corporate houses," he asserted.
